Electrodynamics is a two semester course focussing on advanced topics. We assume that the students are familiar with the Maxwell equations and some basic concepts like Green's functions and non-Cartesian coordinate systems. In this course we will focus on advanced concepts like waves, relativistic formulation of electrodynamics, radiations, etc.

We assume that the students are familiar with the Maxwell equations and some basic concepts like Green’s functions and non-Cartesian coordinate systems. Some of the topics covered in this lecture are 1) Electromagnetism as a relativistic gauge theory 2) Electromagnetic waves and propagation 3) Waveguides, cavities and optical fibers 4) Radiations (Bremsstrahlung, Cerenkov radiation, etc.) 5) Optics (Scattering, Diffraction, etc.) 指定用書(Text Books) – J. Lifshitz, “Course of Theoretical Physics”, Vols. 2 & 8 教學進度(Syllabus) We will pick up where we left in the first part of the course. In particular, we will put a stronger focus on electrodynamics in media. In the previous year we covered in the second part the following topics - Statics in Media - Waves in Media - Waveguides - Radiation Due to the new 16 week schedule there will be some adjustments compared to last year. 成績考核(Evaluation) We will present the evaluation method at the beginning of the course. 相關網頁(Class Website) We will use google classroom for this course.
