Phylogenetics aims to infer relationships among groups of organisms, individuals, or homologous sequences. Accompanied with blooming of computation and sequencing technology, methodological advances in phylogenetics have been highlighted for biologists nowadays. Particularly for scientists who intend to address evolutionary issues, general understanding about updated phylogenetic tools and approaches are indispensable. On basis of sophistic phylogenetic analyses, we are able to further address evolutionary history behind the tree of life.

Evaluation: Attendance: 20%. Class performance: 20%. Assigned homework: 60%.
