This course aims at the fundamental technologies and applications for manufacturing system automation. In this course, we will introduce the concepts about manufacturing systems and automation, control systems, sensors, actuators, workpiece handling systems & Industrial visualization. The course content includes Manipulator operation, Multiaxis machining operation, Grafana implementation, SIEMENS Shopturn Interface operation, using Hexagon Metrology for taking measurements, writing codes by using Node-red. However, some automation topics (e.g., Python, matlab, CAD/CAM, CNC machining & Mastercam) will be dropped out from this course since they will be(have been) taught in other ones. In this course, we will carry out many practical operations and teach more in-depth mechanical intelligence content.
