Brief

This two-credit class is designed for high-intermediate students to learn and acquire essential skills to communicate effectively in a wide range of English settings. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire (1) the ability to capture main ideas, read for details, and make inferences to comprehend a text more deeply; (2) the ability to read between lines and guess meanings of unfamiliar words from context ; (3) the ability to understand English idioms and ex<x>pressions used in a variety of settings; (4) the ability to use grammar correctly; (5) the ability to express ideas and opinions fluently and effectively.
