This course teaches many important fiber-optic sening systems ba<x>sed on intensity-, polarization-, and phase-ba<x>sed detection principles. These detection systems aim to calibrate variations of temperature, strain and state of polarization in principle. In reality, these fiber-optic sensors can be used to measure environmental temperature, liquid level,electric current,gas pressure, force, tilt angle and plenty many other quantities. Also, this course introduces several sensing techniques that are intensively employed for perimeter intrusion detection and distributed temperature/strain sensing.
