This graduate seminar will address the following issues: how bilingual children acquire/learn the different components of the linguistic system of the second language such as phonology, vocabulary, syntax, literacy; whether or how bilingual children differ from monolingual children in the cognitive development such as me<x>talinguistic knowledge and intelligence; whether or how bilingual children’s acquisition of a new language may have an impact on their development of the mother tongue; etc. The course will be run in a seminar fashion where participants will take turns reporting on the articles they are interested in and leading the discussion.

II. Course Text: The course text comprises a packet of articles drawn from book chapters and journals. The packet of reading materials can be purchased at a copy center near the university. III.
