This course is for students who wish to improve their formal oral presentation skills. Particular attention is given to the techniques of academic presentations such as the structure, content, and non-verbal aspects of doing successful presentations. Students will develop skills in doing academic presentations with stylistic appropriacy, evaluating critically speakers’ perspectives and arguments, and expressing/negotiating opinions in academic discussions. Students will also learn how to self-assess their strengths in terms of public speaking abilities, as well as identify areas for continued development.
