This course emphasises intuitive approach to analysing the performance and limitations of analogue integrated circuits, as well as the ability to design analogue integrated circuits quantitively by both hand calculations and computer-aided simulations. Techniques and considerations regarding the layout of analogue integrated circuits will also be practiced. Students are expected to be able to complete the full-custom design process of an operational amplifier.

Extensive use of the circuit simulatior and the layout editor CADENCE is required in homework assignments. Specific topics incude: 1: Introduction 2: IC technologies & Device models (w2: HW1 diff. pair) 3-4: CMOS amplifiers (w4: HW2 R-R input) 5 : Feedback, Stability and frequency compensation 6-8 : CMOS operational amplifiers (w7: HW3 two-stage Op) 9-10: CMOS subcircuits (w10: HW4 boot-strap current ref.) 11-13: High performance Op-amps (w11: HW5 R-R output stage) w14: Midterm quiz (T7T8) 14-16: Switched-capacitor circuits (w14: HW6 RGC amp) 17: Layout techniques, Mixed-signal consideration, and I/O Pad selection 18: Final project report 二、指定用書(Text Books) "CMOS Analog Circuit Design" 3rd Edition, P.E.
