本課程主要是讓大一學生了解材料科技所涵蓋的領域及基本知識,以及和未來四年課程與其他跨 領域工程的連結、各種材料的實際的應用、正面臨的問題及挑戰、與所需突破及創新之處。目標 是能引起學生們的興趣,並在未來四年的相關課程,把材料科技相關基礎打好,並找到自己的志 趣與未來努力的方向。 This course is to introduce the coverage and basic knowledge of Materials science and Engineering. It will also cover its li<x>nkage with other inter- discipline field, the applications, existing problems and challenges that needs to overcome with innovation. The goal is to inspire students' passionate on materials and motivation learning fundamentals in next 4 years as an undergraduate, so as to find their interested area for them to go for further.

It will also cover its linkage with other inter- discipline field, the applications, existing problems and challenges that needs to overcome with innovation. Will emphasize students’ self-learning, and Q&A/discussion in the class. 2. Request students preview before the class and submit 1-page report weekly for their understanding of each chapter, including definition of terminology, innovation and applications, difficulties and questions... etc. 3. Request students to do suggested homework by their own after finishing each chapter and go through group-study (team-work). 4. Will give a lecture after students raising their points from their understanding (according to their 1-page report), then discuss/small competition during the class for fundamentals and applications (case study). 5. Will use video from web-site or Coursera, MIT Open Courseware to help as much as possible. 6. Ask students to form a group to interview professors for their research and life experience related to course contents. (Only when Corona virus is done) 7.
