Space exploration is a very exciting subject. Despite the late presence in the human history, it has developed rapidly and vastly and has achieved remarkable results over the past decades. Nowadays, many celestial bodies in the Solar System have been and are still actively visited by a number of unmanned probes, which provide us with precious knowledge about our space environment as well as the far away Universe. The main goal of this course is to enhance understanding of the big picture for the science and technology in shaping space exploration. Taking a process oriented approach, the course starts with the history and the repercussions of space exploration to humankind, and transfers to basic planetary science and mission design principles. Through this course, we aim to bring students from different departments together to enjoy this interesting, challenging and booming subject.
