CHEM化 121 M3M4W2
In this bioinorganic chemistry course, the uncovered me<x>talloprotein structures and catalytic mechanism will be delineated. The well-developed model compounds will be introduced to let students undeerstand how the me<x>tal active-site function of me<x>talloproteins is uncovered. In addition, the important bioinorganic medicinal chemistry will be delivered.
Course keywords: bioinorganic chem, me<x>tal-protein, active site, bioinorganic medicine, model compounds Textbook: Principles of Bioinorganic Chemitry (Stephen J. Lippard and Jeremy M. Berg) References: Bioinorganic Chemistry (Bertini, Gray, Lippard, Valentine) Lecture in English. Evaluation: 1/3 test I + 1/3 test II + 1/3 test III This course covers properties of biological molecules, physical methods in bioinorganic chemistry, choice/uptake/assembly of metal containing units in biology, control and utilization of metal-ion concentration in cells, binding of metal ions and complexes to biomolecule-active centers, electron-transfer proteins, substrate binding and activation of nonredox mechanism.
